A place for Young Re-enactors to Connect

I would like to get my little ones to an event this summer ( ACW) but we don't have any clothing small enough My son is 2 and my daughter is 7 months. I was thinking of just making some cotten pants and a light cotton shirt for my son ( he's mostly potty trained and my husband is dead set against son wearing a "dress")  so he's covered ( i hope) but I can't find any patterns for working class Southern families ( my hubby is a black-smith). Any suggestions?

Check out Elizabeth Stewart Clark's website. She has many highly accurate patterns for children, along with lots of free information on how best to outfit the wee ones.

A secret hint - get friends to help. People love sewing baby clothes. You don't even need to ask - just mention that you're trying to outfit the babies and the clothes will come. I have a friend who had a baby last year - I don't think she sewed a single thing.
