The front view of the new ballgown
The back view, with my hair.
The whole effect...the girl who took the picture said I looked like something out of a BBC drama. I just think I look confused. "Whaaaaat?"
What can I say...I'm such a tart.
These were taken at my club's annual formal ball, which was held last weekend. I'm probably a little bit spoiled - when I went to my first "battlefield ball", where they did the Patty-cake polka, I was like, "Wait...this is no ball!"
The ballroom was lit by candles, and everyone wore silk gowns. We all used dance cards - that's right, gentlemen had to ask for the honor of the dance beforehand. Everyone used their best etiquette. There were 20 dances . Even those who can't get enough of dancing were finally ready to collapse when we finished at 12:30 in the morning.
I said that night, "There's no need to be modest, I know I'm a pretty pretty princess." The dress has been in the works since August. There are a few things I know I would change, but most of them were an issue from losing weight in between starting and finishing. But I really felt like Cinderella at the ball - I was called "radiant" and "simply lovely - just like a fashion plate".
The fabric is a lightweight silk taffeta. The trim is box-pleated heavy taffeta (it's technically a changeable taffeta - the warp is a blue-green, the weft is black, making for a navy blue). There is a bow at each shoulder seam and three roses at the v of the bodice.
I simply had to share!
